On Saturday 14th July 2018 I ran a Notebook Making workshop in the Language Centre on the Greek island of Chios. The LC is run by CESRT (Chios Eastern Shore Rescue Team). I was assisted by the Language teachers, Emma and Penny. The 12 students (from countries such as Iraq, Syria and Iran) did really great work – I was pleased with the results. It took about 2 hours. We first folded and sewed A4 pages together to make an A5 text block. The cover was made using cardboard from cereal boxes (collected for 2 weeks by volunteers) and covered the card with good watercolour paper (200 gsm). On the white cover, students were free to design any type of cover, and as you can see, they came up with great designs. One student adapted the basic design with a wrap-over curved part.
